FAQs
FAQs
How do I book?
Fill out the form, I will call you back to learn what sort of experience you are looking for and if we can help you. If what we provide is something that sounds good to you, then you pay a $550 deposit which holds your spot on the calendar. The balance is due on the day that we fly you in to hunt.
Can I change dates?
Are hunts guided?
If we are not seeing anything will you move us?
We can be flexible on dates. Especially if it's a week or more before your scheduled flight, but as your hunt date approaches this becomes more challenging. If your dates are around the opener (Aug 7-11 for sheep or Aug 30-Sept 1 for moose) shifting your dates is more challenging.
Generally speaking we do not move our hunters once they have been placed in the field. That said, we occasionally move clients when the terrain we selected for them is too difficult. We make every effort to to ensure we put people in best hunting location available on the day of their hunt, and then it becomes a matter of hard work, and the luck of the hunt.
We can provide a professional guide for hunts in our area if you are interested please contact me. Mike Meekin is a guide, and we work with a number of excellent assistant guides who know the area well and have hunted it for many years.
FAQs
What species can I hunt as a non-resident without a guide.
As a non-resident you can hunt moose in GMU14 over the counter. Or, moose in GMU13 if you draw the DM338 tag. You can hunt caribou on the DC590 tag. Or black bear anytime. Sheep and Goat are only available to non-residents with a guide and a tag. Grizzly bear also requires a guide for non-residents.
What is a DIY hunt?
How much weight am I allowed to bring?
If we book with you what does the process look like.
Will you pick us up early if we get done hunting.
If you weigh 180lbs or less you get 70lbs of gear. If you weigh 200lbs or more, you're allowed 50 lbs.
Yes, with satellite communication, many of our hunters adjust their pick up date from the field.
A DIY hunt is a "do-it-yourself" option where clients bring their own camp. It is not guided or outfitted. Clients use their own hunting experience, but rely on our local knowledge to transport them to a good area.
If you decide to go with us, we will do our best to communicate what to expect regarding the type of terrain where you are going. We have more than 100 airstrips or landing zones we use. Weather, wind, game location, physical condition of the hunter, etc. all play a part in choosing the right spot and create a dynamic environment. When you arrive at the hangar we will do some quick paper work and get you airborne as soon as possible, weather and other logistical factors often force a pretty loose schedule. We generally move 2 people at a time in 2 separate super cubs. We do our best to give you a lay-of-the-land from the air as we arrive at the destination, and once on the ground share what local knowledge we have of the area. When you are done hunting you'll communicate with us and we'll make a plan for picking you up as the flight schedule allows.
